In cytologic tests, Nuclepore gently removes virtually all cells of interest from body fluid, concentrating them in a single microscopic viewing plane. Fast-flow filtration passes fluids quickly, eliminating clogging and morphologic detail. Chemically-resistant plastic surface is unaffected by most solutions used for fixation and staining. Nuclepore filters withstand sustained temperatures up to 140°C with no adverse effects. Birefringent refractive index of 1.623 and 1.585.
