High grade tool steel construction. Heat treated to 65 “C“ Rockwell, with hardness drawn around cavity to increase toughness. Cylindrical cavity tapers slightly inward to a hemispherical bottom. Tool steel pestle is hardened and tempered. Has ball end to fit bottom of mortar cavity, and octagonal handle. Mortar size is 3"" square x 4.5"" high. Cavity diameter at top is 2"". Depth is 3"". Pestle length is 9.5"". Pestle is included.
