For use in flattening silver buttons or for crushing small ore samples. Hardened alloy tool steel construction. Has a flat-bottomed cylindrical cavity that is fitted with removable hardened steel pestle-sleeve. Pestle will fit comfortably inside of sleeve. Both pestle and mortar are hardened to 65 “C“ Rockwell and polished after hardening. Pestle diameter is 25 mm.
