By limiting sample exposure to the open lab environment, the experimental set-up of PCR reactions is protected against airborne or cross-contamination. The automatic timer activates UV sterilization to irradiate the working area prior to and after planned use. If a corner door is opened, proximity sensors turn off the power to the UV system.
